THE MORALS OF POLITICS
A short Story:
Once upon a time, in a far far away jungle, elections were held. The Lions party was the majority party, but it did not have enough votes to form a government. They went from pillar to post, from friends to foes, asking for support. Support came in from an unlikely corner, the Fox party, but it was an outside support, with only the fruits of power to be enjoyed, without any responsibilities to share.
A government, albeit a coalition one, was formed. It went on for sometime, with the fox arm twisting the lion on every issue. When the Fox started unnecessarily harassing other animals of the jungle, they made the Lions look away. A lot of animals lost their food & daily supplement of vitamins, because of the foxes, but the lions choose to be indifferent, as if nothing had happened.
The main opposition, the Hawks, voiced their opposition time & again, but were ridiculed. Even they at times strayed from their morals & snatched food from other animals. So in short it was like ' JUNGLE RAJ'( LAW OF THE WILD). Daily living expenses of all the animal families, was going up on a daily basis, but neither the lions nor the foxes interested in controlling this inflation.
Now, just before the end of the term, the lions entered into a pact with the Tigers of a different jungle to rule all the jungles. For this they entered into a deal, widely known as the 'Cha1-Cha2-Cha3 Deal'. All hell broke loose, with the foxes crying foul, over them being kept in the dark about the deal. Also the ideology of the Tigers was very different to the foxes & the foxes resented tigers as anti-animals.
The foxes withdrew support to the government, not on the price rise but on the 'Cha1-Cha2-Cha3 Deal'. Now the government had to prove their majority on the floor of the grazing grounds. Small parties like Deer party, Swan party, Horse party & many independent votes, were being shown lolly pops or issued threats to gain their support.
Stay tuned to know what will happen to the coalition?? Will it survive, with the support of these smaller groups or will the fox party bring down the government, that too with the help of their arch rivals the Hawks.............
