Ban on Smoking-Is it only an Indian thing???????

Was in Udaipur to attend a friend's wedding. Must say the city draws you into its lakes & palaces. Was returning to Mumbai on 25th night, when i encountered a group of 4 foreigners smoking away to glory at the railway station......had an Indian been doing it, he/she would have been caught & told to shell out Rs 200/- as fine for breaking a law.On top of that he/she would have been subjected to humiliation by the cop, who would have suddenly turned a preacher.
But i feel that we still look upto these gori chamdi people & feel that they are superior to us. I waited for a few minutes to see if any TTE or policeman came up to this group of rule-breakers & requested them to stop breaking the laws of India or fine them for the same. Nothing happened for more than 10 minutes.

Then when i saw them calmly walking out of the station, i stepped up near them, clicked a photo of this group. Before they could exit, i caught hold of them & informed them that smoking in public places was a banned in India. On hearing this, they apologised to me & quietly extinguished their ciggies, infornt of a cheering crowd. Some of the olddies started clapping as if i had done something out of this world.

I am glad that i could show this common group of Indians that anything is possible, we just need to step up & put our foot down.

JAI HIND!!!!!
